The Independent Photo Book is a place to announce your work, with "no selecting, editing and / or curating involved." The only requirement is that the books aren't already accessible through mainstream venues like Amazon, etc. (Via)

Michael Wolf / Barbara Crane at Aperture Gallery

Went to see Michael Wolf's The Transparent City at Aperture Gallery this weekend with Bhagli. The show's up until Jan 21, alongside Barbara Crane's Private Views. Definitely worth checking out.

George Pitts Reviews Ryan McGinley

The aforementioned George Pitts (see last blog) wrote an excellent review of Ryan McGinley's series I Know Where The Summer Goes (above pic), for S Magazine a while back. Pitts has a uniquely talented writing ability, and because he is McGinley's former professor you'll likely not find a more cogent review of the artist. Find it here.

For me, McGinley's work resonates with the late Andrew Wyeth:

Ryan Pfluger Shoots George Pitts, And Others

Ryan Pfluger has a great shot of George Pitts from his series Edited, "A work in progress photographing contemporary decision-makers in photography from photo editors to gallery owners. The work deals with the mystique that surrounds these people as well as switching roles with them."

I met George a couple of times in 2009, when he shot tests at the studio where I work. Aside from being a photographer, he is an easygoing fellow and the Assistant Professor and Associate Chair of Photography at Parsons, as well as former Director of Photography at Vibe Magazine (1993-2004) and LIFE Magazine (2004-2007).
